For a great explanation of lymphedema from a layperson’s point of view, check out a blog post from MyBreastCancerNetwork.com, with the URL http://www.healthcentral.com/breast-cancer/c/78/56914/comments.  Every cancer patient should familiarize himself or herself with this information so as to lower risks of developing lymphedema or recognize the symptoms of lymphedema and get it treated as soon as possible.

I wish everyone a healthy and blessed New Year.  My motto?  A stitch in time saves 2009!  This month go schedule that preventative checkup with the doctor that you might have been dreading and postponing.  It could save your life!  While mammograms may not be the most pleasant test in the world, they still are the best way to detect breast cancer in most if not all post-menopausal women.   Check with your doctor to see what the best test is for you.  Don’t wait.  May your health be fine in 2009!  God bless, Jan
